Clear answers about our styling process, timelines, pricing, and how to get your space ready.

About The Service

Q: What exactly does The Holiday Edit do?
A: The Holiday Edit is a luxury holiday styling studio serving the Long Island. We source premium trees, light and style them completely, and create beautifully finished holiday spaces for homes and businesses. For our flagship service, The Holiday Edit, we handle everything — sourcing, lighting, styling, takedown, and storage. We also style trees you already own, and create focal points like mantels, garlands, and tablescapes throughout your space. Think of it as bringing in a stylist for your holiday space — someone with a trained eye who handles every last detail so the finished result looks beautiful and intentional.

Q: Is this like a decorating company?
A: Not exactly. The Holiday Edit is a luxury styling service, not a large decorating or lighting company. You’re hiring Kristyn’s taste and design eye — it’s a personal, hands-on service with a limited number of clients each season. Every installation gets individual attention.

Q: Do you work with businesses as well as private homes?
A: Yes. We style a range of commercial spaces — bridal boutiques, hotel and apartment lobbies, medical and professional offices, country clubs, salons, spas, restaurants, retail storefronts, and event venues, among others. A beautifully styled space during the holidays draws people in and elevates your brand. Commercial projects are quoted individually.

Q: What type of businesses do you typically work with?
A: Boutique retail, medical and dental offices, real estate brokerages, salons, and professional service firms are the most common. If your business has a client-facing space where the holidays matter and the details need to look polished, we’re likely a good fit.

Q: Do you only do Christmas trees?
A: Trees are our signature service, but we also style mantels, wreathes, tablescapes and garlands — and can combine all three for a cohesive look throughout your home. Inquire via the contact form if you are interested in additional decorative elements.

Q: Do you work with artificial trees or real trees?
A: We work with artificial trees. If you’d like us to source and deliver the tree, that’s available as part of The Holiday Edit package.

Q: What size trees do you work with?
A: We work with trees up to 12 feet tall.

Q: Do you rent the trees and décor?
A: The Holiday Edit is a full styling experience, not a rental service. The specifics of how décor and trees are handled are confirmed in your written proposal, so everything is clear before you book. For commercial clients, rental arrangements may be available on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability. Whatever the arrangement, your space is styled completely and beautifully for the season — and the details are always spelled out up front.

Q: Do you do exterior lighting?
A: No — The Holiday Edit is focused exclusively on interior styling: trees, mantels, garlands, and other indoor focal points. We’re happy to recommend a trusted lighting professional if you’re looking for exterior installation.

Q: Where are you based and what areas do you serve?
A: The Holiday Edit is based on Long Island, NY. We primarily serve residential and business clients across Suffolk County and the North Shore. If you’re outside this area, reach out — we’re happy to discuss travel and availability.

Packages & Pricing

Q: What is The Holiday Edit?
A: The Holiday Edit is our signature, full-service experience. We source a premium tree, light it generously, style the complete look to your palette, and return after the season to take it down and store it for you. It’s the whole experience, start to finish — you choose the date and we handle everything else.

Q: What if I already have a tree I love?
A: Then The Signature Styling is for you. We style your existing tree to the same considered standard, with décor curated and sourced to your palette. Lighting is refreshed and supplemented as needed.

Q: What is The Annual Edit?
A: The Annual Edit is our by-invitation service for returning clients. Each season we return to restyle your collection with a fresh eye, install, take down, and store everything until next year — a standing place on our calendar and a beautifully finished home, year after year.

Q: How does pricing work?
A: Every engagement begins with a design consultation, and your final investment is confirmed in a written proposal. The Complete Edit begins at $3,500; The Signature Styling at $1,650; individual Focal Points start lower. There is a minimum project investment of $1,650, met by a Signature Tree Styling or a combination of focal points, takedown/packaway and storage.

Q: What does the coverage note mean?
A: Every tree is styled to a beautiful front-facing standard — complete from every angle it’s normally seen, ideal for a tree against a wall or in a corner (approximately 75% coverage). For a tree viewed fully in the round — visible from all sides — we offer full 360° coverage, styled and lit on every side, for an additional investment.

Q: Does the décor belong to me after the installation?
A: Yes — all of it. Ornaments, ribbon, picks, topper, and accents are yours to keep. They become part of your holiday collection and can be refreshed or added to in future seasons.

Q: Do you take the tree down afterward?
A: Yes — takedown, packaway, and first-season storage are included with The Holiday Edit and The Annual Edit. For The Signature Styling, takedown and storage are available as an addition. It’s the unhurried close to the season, handled for you.

Booking

Q: When should I book?
A: As early as possible. Installations run from early November through mid-December, and the calendar fills up quickly — especially for the Thanksgiving weekend and first two weeks of December. If you’re thinking about it, don’t wait.

Q: How do I reserve my date?
A: A 50% retainer is required to hold your installation date. It’s non-refundable because it’s applied directly to the cost of sourcing and ordering your specific décor — ornaments, ribbon, and accents that are curated for your space. The remaining balance is due at the time of installation.

Q: What does the consultation process involve?
A: After you reach out, we’ll schedule a design consultation — by phone or in person, whichever you prefer. We’ll talk through your vision, your style, and the spaces you’d like styled, along with any pieces that matter to you. From there, a custom proposal is prepared, with pricing confirmed before anything is booked. Once you’re happy and your deposit reserves the date, we handle the rest.

Q: What if I need to reschedule?
A: Same-season rescheduling is accommodated whenever possible, subject to availability. We ask that you let us know as early as you can so we can do our best to make it work.

On the Day

Q: What do I need to have ready before the installation?
A: For The Signature Styling package, your tree should be fully assembled and lit before we arrive. Clear a reasonable path to and around the tree, and that’s really it. For The Holiday Edit, we handle everything from setup to styling — you don’t need to prepare a thing. Just ensure space is cleared for the tree.

Q: Can you assemble and light my tree as well?
A: Yes — tree assembly and lighting installation is available as an add-on to The Signature Styling package. If you’d like us to handle setup before styling begins, just mention it when you reach out and we’ll include it in your proposal. It’s the easiest way to hand the whole thing off completely.

Q: How long does an installation take?
A: Most installations are completed in a few hours. The exact time depends on the scope — tree styling alone takes less time than The Holiday Edit. We’ll give you a realistic time estimate when your appointment is confirmed.

Q: Will I need to be home during the installation?
A: It’s entirely up to you. Some clients enjoy being home during the installation, while others prefer to leave and return to a beautifully transformed space. As long as we’ve discussed your vision in advance and we have access to the home, we’re happy to work whichever way you’re most comfortable. If any design questions arise during the installation, we’ll reach out to you before making a decision. Before we finish, we’ll either walk you through the completed space in person or share photos if you’re away.

Q: Do you clean up after the installation?
A: Yes — every installation is left broom swept, with all packaging, wire, and hooks cleared away. Please note that glitter, faux snow, and other decorative materials can be difficult to fully remove from carpets and fabric; we take care to minimize this, but some residue is a natural part of working with certain finishes. If you have any material preferences or areas of concern, just let us know before your installation and we’ll plan around them.
